MOSES LAKE - Justin Bos, who'll be a senior at Sunnyside High School this fall, has earned a spot in this coming Friday's Junior World qualifying tournament, to be staged in Tumwater.
To advance to the Junior World qualifying event in Tumwater, Bos needed a "Top 6" finish at yesterday's pre-qualifier, held at the Moses Lake Country Club.
No problem, it turned out, for the talented prep linkster, as he cruised around the Moses Lake course with a 3-over-par 74. That was good for third place honors.
The only two golfers to top him yesterday were Scott Paine of Wenatchee, the winner with an even-par 71, and runner-up Drew Reinland of Walla Walla, who posted a 2-over 73.
Bos described Tuesday's round as "...pretty boring.
"Not a single birdie," he said.
The SHS Grizzly golfer, instead, put together a very workmanlike round, notching 15 pars and absorbing only three bogies. He finished with a 2-over 38 on the front side of the country club course, settling for a 1-over 36 on the final nine holes.
"At Moses Lake, you're either in the fairway or in the sagebrush. The greens are fairly small and pretty fast.
"You can't just pull out driver on every hole. You have to think your way around it," Bos said.
"For the most part, I kept it in play. Nothing fancy, nothing too exciting," Bos added.
