Volunteers lauded for helping stage local track meet

With more than 430 kids in soccer and more than 200 in baseball, we have been extremely busy. But it's never too late to say thank you to those who help with our programs. Sunnyside Recreation would like to let everyone know that their help does not go unnoticed.

We would like to thank all the youngsters who participated at the Pee Wee and the Hershey's track event on Saturday, June 2. We had more than 150 participants in this event. We would also like to thank the volunteers for all of their time and effort, which made Pee Wee and Hershey's track a successful program-Ray Pascua, Delia Sandoval, Sherre Holden, Evie Jaquish, Brenda Anderson, Albert Flores, Deanna Flores, Taylor Flores, Becca Niemeyer, Resa Ibarra, Luke Spilles, Sean Golob, Cassie Romero, Suzi Carpino and the help of the Sunnyside High School cheerleaders (Alejandra Alanis, Jeanette Alvarez, Ivette Matus, Rachel Romero, Savanna Martinez, Melodie Casas, Yeraldi Espino, Stephanie Morales, Kristen Weedam and Jenna Zamarron), the Sunnyside School District for the use of the track, Parks and Rec Commissioner Dorothy Aiken for her help, and Sunnyside Parks Maintenance staff for all their help.

We look forward to offering this program next year. Thanks again to all who volunteered their time.

/s/ Joan Niemeyer & Sandra Medrano, Sunnyside Recreation Department
