Bill J. McMean, 69, of Sunnyside passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at his home in Sunnyside.

He was born July 7, 1937, in Stonewall,


to J.B. and Rose E. (Moshier) McMeans. Bill received his education in


, graduating with the


High School

class of 1955. From 1955 to 1959, Bill served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman Second Class. On Oct. 16, 1997, he married Pat Cranford in Sunnyside.

Bill trained racehorses for most of his life. He enjoyed hunting trips to Selway, Idaho, pack trips to the mountains, reading, sports and cherished time spent with his family and friends, as well as team roping. Bill was a member of the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) and the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pat McMeans of Sunnyside; his daughter, Cheryl McMeans of Huntersville, N.C.; four sons, Bobby McMeans and Alice Amator of Phoenix, Ariz., Ken McMeans of El Monte, Calif., Jeff Raver and wife, Missy, of Prosser and Scott Raver of Sunnyside; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, Bob McMeans of Federal Way and Wayne McMeans and wife, Cindy, of Ellensburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 12, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Those wishing to honor his memory may contribute to the Lower Valley Hospice. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
