JAMES CANTRELL

PAID OBITUARY

James Cantrell, 82, of Outlook passed away Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Sunnyside Community Hospital.

He was born March 21, 1924 in Noel, Mo. to Alma Andrew and Pearl Maude (Chrisman) Cantrell. James received his education in Missouri. James served in the U.S. Navy from Dec. 20, 1945 until Oct. 17, 1947, during WWII. Following his discharge he lived in San Diego, Calif.

In 1957 James moved to the Lower Valley, where he met and later married Kathy Eirich on Sept. 25, 1959, in Grandview. They together lived in Sunnyside, and later moved to California for six months, then returned to Sunnyside to make their home.

James worked for Anderson Roberts and later drove truck for Nick’s Hauling. He was forced to retire due to an accident.

He enjoyed gardening, watching the Seahawks and Mariners and never missed a sporting event that his son, Chris, participated in.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Cantrell of Outlook; one son, Chris Cantrell and wife, Diane, of Los Angeles, Calif.; one daughter, Sara Brownlee and husband, Jeff, of Sunnyside; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Lee Wilson of Yakima, Bill Cantrell of Moses Lake, Ted Cantrell of Moxee and Jerry Cantrell of Wyoming.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar, Ernest and Bob; and one sister, Iona Maxine Mustain.

Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2007, from 1 to 5 p.m. and Thursday, March 22, 2007, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, with graveside services and military honors to follow at 1 p.m. at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
