Chamber banquet huge success
I would like to thank several people for the huge success of
the “Stars of the Community” Sunnyside Chamber Banquet on Saturday, March 10,
at Navarro’s Community Center.
The Banquet Committee: Pam Craig, Linda Craig, Karen Friend,
Chella Cardenas, Heather Mulrony, Brezzi Campos, Gerald Roy, Jesse Hernandez
and Leo Leal—I couldn’t have done it without all of you!

the invocation and to Bon Vino’s, the food was outstanding.
The Miss Sunnyside Court, you gals are a class act, you made
the desserts look even more beautiful. Thanks to Digital Creations for the
plaques, they are perfect, and to Rattle Snake Hills Trail for the wine,
everyone enjoyed it.
Thanks also to Angela Dalrymple and Janelle Hull for running
the bar, you gals were wonderful, and to Elner Becker for helping with
Ron and Sue Jetter, Boy Scout Troop #632; Hank, Wilson and
Curtis Tramel, Aaron Henry and Luke Lane...thank you for your help with
clearing the tables, you guys really did a great job.
Thanks also go to Sunnyside Community Hospital for the
linens, and to Teft Cellars for the wine barrels. Thank you to all of the
businesses who decorated the 29 beautiful tables and to everyone who donated
for the silent auction.
I would also like to thank Monica Moran, the Secretary for
the Chamber of Commerce, for all of the hard work she put into the banquet.
Last but not least, I would like to thank my son, Taylor
Schroder, for all of his hard work helping with set-up, clean-up and helping
sell the adorable puppy, you are my pride and joy!

Royalty luncheon help appreciated
Last Saturday, April 17, the Miss Sunnyside Committee held
its first ever Yakima Valley Royalty luncheon. More than 50 court members and
their chaperones from around the Yakima Valley shared information concerning upcoming
parades, pageants and coronations and became acquainted with each other before
the start of parade season.
The Miss Sunnyside Committee thanks the City of Sunnyside
for sponsoring the event, Joan Niemeyer and her capable staff at the Sunnyside
Recreation facility for lending their gracious assistance, SHS. agricultural
teacher Ryan Kannely for providing the lovely potted geraniums and shamrocks,
and Dianna Mendoza for inspiring the group with her presentation on her African
