I would like to thank several people for the huge success of the “Stars of the Community” Sunnyside Chamber Banquet on Saturday, March 10, at Navarro’s Community Center.

The Banquet Committee: Pam Craig, Linda Craig, Karen Friend, Chella Cardenas, Heather Mulrony, Brezzi Campos, Gerald Roy, Jesse Hernandez and Leo Leal—I couldn’t have done it without all of you!

Master of Ceremonies-Chief Ed Radder, you were fantastic.

Thanks to Lloyd Wicker for the invocation and to Bon Vino’s, the food was outstanding.

The Miss Sunnyside Court, you gals are a class act, you made the desserts look even more beautiful. Thanks to Digital Creations for the plaques, they are perfect, and to Rattle Snake Hills Trail for the wine, everyone enjoyed it.

Thanks also to Angela Dalrymple and Janelle Hull for running the bar, you gals were wonderful, and to Elner Becker for helping with checkout.

Ron and Sue Jetter, Boy Scout Troop #632; Hank, Wilson and Curtis Tramel, Aaron Henry and Luke Lane...thank you for your help with clearing the tables, you guys really did a great job.

Thanks also go to Sunnyside Community Hospital for the linens, and to Teft Cellars for the wine barrels. Thank you to all of the businesses who decorated the 29 beautiful tables and to everyone who donated for the silent auction.

I would also like to thank Monica Moran, the Secretary for the Chamber of Commerce, for all of the hard work she put into the banquet.

Last but not least, I would like to thank my son, Taylor Schroder, for all of his hard work helping with set-up, clean-up and helping sell the adorable puppy, you are my pride and joy!

Congratulations to the award winners, it’s Stars like you that make our community so wonderful!

Royalty luncheon help appreciated

Last Saturday, April 17, the Miss Sunnyside Committee held its first ever Yakima Valley Royalty luncheon. More than 50 court members and their chaperones from around the Yakima Valley shared information concerning upcoming parades, pageants and coronations and became acquainted with each other before the start of parade season.

The Miss Sunnyside Committee thanks the City of Sunnyside for sponsoring the event, Joan Niemeyer and her capable staff at the Sunnyside Recreation facility for lending their gracious assistance, SHS. agricultural teacher Ryan Kannely for providing the lovely potted geraniums and shamrocks, and Dianna Mendoza for inspiring the group with her presentation on her African trip.
