Grandview Council authorizes sale of building

GRANDVIEW - Grandview City Council authorized Mayor Norm Childress to sign all necessary documents for the sale of city property in downtown Grandview, located at 146 Division Street.

Two council members, Helen Darr and Joan Souders, abstained from voting. Darr abstained because she had missed the executive session on April 16 in which the subject matter of selling the property was discussed. Souders abstained because her understanding was that council needed to discuss it further in executive session prior to voting on it.

City Administrator Scott Staples said that putting it on the agenda did qualify as making the subject matter public.

Earl Horn is buying the building for $50,000 and, according to Staples, he plans to turn it into a restaurant.

"He's quite interested in moving ahead," said Staples.
