Rose L. Hellbusch, 97, of Yakima and a longtime Sunnyside resident, died Friday, May 11, 2007, at Memorial’s Garden Village in Yakima.

She was born June 7, 1909, in Madison, Neb. to Albert and Freda Kurpgeweit. She was educated in Nebraska. On Feb. 12, 1930, she married Henry A. Hellbusch in Platte Center, Neb. They moved to Mabton in 1936, then to Sunnyside in 1939. She moved to Yakima in 2006.

She is survived by one daughter, Verla Smith of Issaquah; three sons, Raemond Hellbusch (Darlene), of Vancouver, Vernon Hellbusch (Rita), of Yakima and Norman Hellbusch (Marlys), of Lynnwood; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one nephew; and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Freda Kuypgeweit; her husband, Henry A. Hellbusch in 1986; one son, Clifford A. Hellbusch; a sister, Christina Kurpgeweit; and one brother, Alfred Kurpgeweit.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2007, from 8 a.m. to noon, at Valley Hills Funeral Home, 345 N. Eleventh St., Sunnyside, with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 11


Street and Harrison Avenue in Sunnyside. Graveside services will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery.
