Michael W. Dawson, 48, of Grandview and a long-time Lower Valley resident, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Sunnyside Community Hospital.

Michael was born June 15, 1958, in Prosser, the son of Marshall and Daisy (Brown) Dawson Sr. He spent his early years and received his education at Washougal. In 1975, the Dawson family moved to Sunnyside. On Jan. 15, 1979, Neoma Colbert and Michael Dawson were married in Sunnyside. Following their marriage, they made their home in the Lower Valley, where Michael was employed as a long haul truck driver.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Neoma Dawson of Grandview; his children, Raven Dawson and Bill Flory, both of Grandview and Suzanna Mauck of Coos Bay, Ore.; his grandchildren, Alijah Magana, Tristen Mauck, Taylor Tauck and Tara Villarreal; his parents, Marshall and Daisy Dawson Sr. of Mabton; his mother-in-law, Marge Colbert of Sunnyside. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Don Dawson, Marshall Dawson Jr., Dale Dawson, Linda Swigart, Tink Warren and Kandie Lewis; and a large number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Fred Flory in 1991.

Viewing will be held today, Tuesday, May 29, 2007, from noon to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
