Maria R. Borrego, 77, of Sunnyside passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, surrounded by her family.

Maria was born Feb. 12, 1930, La Grulla, Texas.

She married Juan Borrego in 1946. They moved to Washington in 1969, where they made their home.

Maria enjoyed being with her children and her many grandchildren, also playing bingo and going to the casino.

She was a strong and never-ending spirit.

She is survived by her five sons, Jose Borrego of Texas, Rogelio Borrego of Grandview, Noe Borrego of Yakima, David Borrego of Idaho and Hector Borrego of Connell; six daughters, Alma Borrego of Connell, Rosa Escamilla of Othello, Diana Borrego of Sunnyside, Antonia Miranda of Yakima, Brenda Borrego of Spokane and Norma Borrego of Outlook; 38 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Juan Borrego Sr.; four sons, Epimenyo Borrego, Rogelio Borrego, Juan Borrego Jr. and Alfredo Borrego; and one daughter, Edina Borrego.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Recitation of the Rosary will be held Monday, Nov. 19, 2007, at 6 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, with burial to follow at the Grandview Cemetery.
