Joanne Schaller, 64, of Seattle passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at Harborview Hospital in Seattle, as a result of injuries sustained in an accident that occurred while she was touring China in June 2007.
Joanne was born July 15, 1943, in Columbus, Ga. to Frank and Ethel Lanzendorfer. She spent her early years in Montana before moving to Sunnyside in 1959, where she graduated with the class of 1961. She received her RN degree from Yakima Valley College in 1965, her BSN from Pacific Lutheran University in 1969, and her MN from the University of Washington in 1971.
She married Robert Schaller. Their daughter, Amy was born in 1981. She returned to the nursing field in 2000, and was working up until she left on her trip to China.
Joanne is survived by her daughter, Amy Schaller of San Francisco, Calif.; her sister, Judy Naught and her husband, Stephen, of Bickleton; her niece, Kim Clinton and husband, David, and their two children, Katelynn and Peter Clinton, all of Bickleton; her nephew, Kevin Naught and his wife, Kathy, and their children, Keith and Charles Naught, all of Yakima; and her longtime friends, Mary Lou and Jim Wickwire of Seattle.
Memorial services and inurnment for Joanne will be held Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Sunnyside. Memorials may be given to the Union Gospel Mission, 318 2nd Ave. South, Seattle, WA 98104, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
