Klickitat vandalizes Lady Pirates

BICKLETON - The Bickleton Lady Pirates played an emotional match against the Klickitat Vandals this past Friday, and according to Bickleton Coach Tom Whitmore, the team's 25-20, 25-16, 25-17 loss was much closer than the numbers reflect.

He said, "Katelynn (Clinton) and Ilsa (Chapple) teamed up again for 11 assists and five kills, respectively."

Klickitat had some hard serves, according to Whitmore. He added that the serves stayed within the boundaries of the court, making it difficult for the Bickleton players. "They (the Vandals) could see the court very well and played us for a while by tipping the ball," Whitmore added.

He said Clinton had a great game at the net, blocking several hits by Klickitat "...to give us not only some points, but some great momentum."

Klickitat began tipping the ball to open spots on the Bickleton side of the net and the Lady Pirates had to adjust accordingly.

"I think our players learned a lot from this match," said Whitmore.

Bickleton drops its league record to 0-7 and overall the Lady Pirates are 4-8. The Lady Pirates travel for a meeting with Riverside Christian Tuesday, Oct.16.
