I am writing because I care about the City of Sunnyside. I am grateful that the City Council finally let the City Manager go. I don't know exactly how much money the former City Manager cost the taxpayers of Sunnyside by the way he handled city employees. He did cost the City $162,000 of taxpayer money in lawyer fees for fighting the sign issue across from Bi-Mart. It was not lost on many of us that the sign issue was resolved within a few days of the City Manager's resignation.
A rather dismaying fact in all of the happenings with the former City Manager is that the present Mayor, Ed Prilucik, supported the City Manager and it appeared did not want to accept his resignation. I suggest that perhaps it is time for a change in the City Council. I am encouraging Sunnyside residents to vote for Tom Gehlen for City Council, position #7, which is the current position held by Prilucik.
I support Tom Gehlen for the City Council because he listens attentively and well to people in our community. He is clear thinking and willing to find out all facts before making a decision. He will be careful about how taxpayers' money is spent in this City. I respectfully ask you to vote for Tom Gehlen for City Council.
