I would like to take this opportunity to thank the citizens of Grandview for their support of the City Council, City Staff and myself to make Grandview a great place to live. There are many needs in this community and few resources to meet those needs.
I am concerned that much attention during this campaign season has been given to an Aquatics Center in Grandview. Let me assure you that we at City Hall have heard what the community has said by failing both election attempts to raise money for an Aquatics Center. Our existing swimming pool is old and in need of maintenance or replacement at some point in time in the near future. Many people understand that our existing pool needs an upgrade of some sort and support a scaled back plan. That upgrade is one of many needs that we have to address.
Grandview has many opportunities that are exciting...a joint library project with YVCC, downtown revitalization, ambulance services and many infrastructure wants and needs. Sometimes progress is slow but I do see progress in Grandview.
Our priorities will continue to focus on public safety and fiscal responsibility. I invite you come to City Council meetings and workshops to be involved in the process of moving forward to continue to improve the quality of life for people in Grandview.
/s/ Norm Childress, Mayor, City of Grandview
