Under the guidance of Pat Kezele, the candidates running for Miss Sunnyside did an excellent job of sponsoring a successful Red Cross blood drawing on August 28 at the United Methodist Church.
We had 100 presenters and nine first-time donors. Twenty-six were deferred, leaving 74 units collected. Because of their generosity, 222 people will have another chance at life.
A special thanks to the sponsors for the juice and cookies and the Yakima Valley Dairy Women for the ice cream bars, United Methodist Church for the use of its hall and Max for displaying the banner at Centennial Square.
Many thanks to the following volunteers: Rebeca Barrios, Janelle Mendoza, Molly Dolan, Ashleigh Emery, Antassia Hammond, Jesenia Rodriguez, Gabriela Catillo, Ella Mae Lochner, Alice Benedetti, Ruth Stark and Myrtis Lang.
A very special thanks to all the donors who turn out to give the gift of life. Without you this drawing would not be possible.
Please join us at the next Red Cross blood drawing on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the United Methodist Church hall from 1 to 6 p.m.
