Mark Dean Clemmens, 77, of Sunnyside passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at his home.

He was born May 20, 1930, in Yakima to Samuel G. and Lina Ellen (Spratt) Clemmens. He received his education in Yakima.

On Nov. 7, 1948, he married Berta Marie Morris at the Free Methodist Church. Together they made their home in Sunnyside. Mark worked as a fuel truck driver, a farmer and also a press operator. He also served in the U.S. Air Force and the reserves.

He enjoyed gardening, woodcarving, reading, antiques, arts and crafts, vending produce and crafts at the local farmers markets.

He was a member of the Sunny Valley Grange #870 and a past Boy Scout Leader.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Williams and Thomas Peter Clemmens, both of Sunnyside; five grandchildren; two brothers, Steve Clemmens of Benton City and Ted Clemmens of Yakima.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie Clemmens; and one sister, Ellen Gochenour.

Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, from 1 to 4 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services, at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
