'The Pajama Game' encounters schedule conflict

The Over the Hill theater group has reluctantly had to cancel plans for its November production of "The Pajama Game."

According to Betty Minnich, the group encountered scheduling conflicts in securing the Sunnyside High School auditorium for the production, and the script has yet to be completed. She said securing rights for the music has also hit a snag.

Minnich says the group is undaunted, however, and has hopes to continue working on the script and music rights for a production of the musical at a later date.

She also noted that the Over the Hill theater group will participate in this year's Sunshine Days Parade, clad in costumes and riding on their very own float.

Minnich stated that volunteers are needed for work on the float, and float-building dates will be Monday, Sept. 10, and Thursday, Sept. 13. Interested persons can call Lloyd and Sheila Hazzard at 839-3871. Minnich added that costumes can be obtained by contacting her at 882-2919.

The theater group will also be hosting a social Thursday, Sept. 27, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Sunnyside. The social will take place beginning at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at the corner of Grandview Avenue and Taylor Street on Harrison Hill.

Minnich said the social will feature a potluck and entertainment for those in attendance. The social is an important meeting, according to Minnich, during which input and ideas on recruiting new members for the Over the Hill theater group might be accomplished. She said the group will also discuss nominations for officers for the coming year and encourages those who will be in attendance to bring their favorite food dish for the meeting.

In addition, she stated coffee and punch will be provided at the social.

For more information about the social, call Minnich at 882-2919.
