GRANDVIEW - In the first of several mediation meetings this past Monday, the Grandview School District and Grandview Education Association discussed issues still needing resolution in the current contract dispute.
GEA president Jamie Downing said the meeting lasted approximately six hours.
"The mediator went over the process and remaining issues that are on the table with both parties in the room," said Downing.
The mediator discussed the issues left to be resolved in drawing up a contract. She talked with each group, separately. At issue are class size, evaluations and compensation for hours worked beyond contract hours, among a handful of other issues.
The mediator discussed the issues with the district and education association "...to get a feel for where we are coming from," according to Downing.
Superintendent Kevin Chase said he felt the meeting was productive and he looks forward to continuing the process on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
After that date, two more meetings are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 3 and 4.
