WAPATO - The Sunnyside volleyball team improved its overall record to 2-5 with a straight set victory over the Wapato Wolves last Saturday.
The 25-13, 24-14, 25-21 win allowed the Grizzly coaches to give all of their players a chance to play.
"In the first game I played all of my starters but when I saw we could win, I started switching players," Sunnyside Coach Mhike Dumo said.
Dumo said he gave his junior varsity players a chance to get some experience in the second game, and to start the third Dumo took out his outside and middle hitters and turned the game over to his JV.
Sunnyside's Melissa Stamschror finished with 19 assists for the game. Teammates Claire Schilperoort added eight kills and two digs and Alexis Ramos had four kills and four digs. JV player Loni Ramos had two kills in the game, Molly Dolan added four kills and Jordyne Jaquish finished with three kills. Kasi Guillen contributed 10 digs in the match.
Dumo said he's hoping to build on this win.
"If we take care of our business we have a chance to compete and give everybody we play a good match," he said.
Sunnyside (1-4, 2-5) will host West Valley this Tuesday, Sept.. 25, at 7 p.m.
