YAKIMA - Black Rock Creek's James Noel bested the field at last week's Columbia Basin Senior Golf Tour competition, staged at Apple Tree Golf Resort.
Noel, who hails from Yakima but is a member of the Sunnyside Black Rock Creek men's club, carded a 5-over-par 77.
Coupled with rounds of 84, 87 and 88 fired by Gene McIntire, Ron Dobrauc and Don Cardenas, respectively, the Black Rock Creek team tied with Richland's Columbia Point squad for top honors at the Apple Tree tourney. Both squads had team scores of 744 for the day.
Black Rock Creek is still atop the 2007 senior tour standings, with 120 points to date. The Desert Aire team from Mattawa is second in the point standings with 109 points.
The last stop on this year's senior tour will be at the Tri-City Country Club on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Black Rock Creek senior golfers who want to compete that day must sign up at the local pro shop by Monday, Oct. 1.
Black Rock Creek senior golfers who shot below their scoring averages at last week's Apple Tree competition included Max Wickham with a handicap-aided 68, Dave Uggetti with a net 70, and Leroy Miller and Don Patteson with a net 71.
