Sunnyside police arrested two juvenile males and recovered several weapons stolen in a residential burglary this past Sunday.
Officers were called to investigate a reported burglary on Reeves Way at 6:40 p.m. Sunday evening. Upon arrival officers took statements from the victims as well as made a list of the items stolen from the home.
The items included two Remington rifles, a 12-gauge shotgun, a 38 Super Colt pistol and a 22 Ruger. Electronics, jewelry and cash were also stolen.
Based on statements from the victims police were able to create a timeline of events and identified who they believed might have been involved.
With written consent, Sunnyside officers said they searched the homes of both suspects and one vehicle. During the searches police recovered all five weapons, the electronic devices, jewelry and other personal items.
Two teens, ages 16 and 17, were taken into custody by police Sunday evening and booked into the Sunnyside jail, then transferred to the Yakima County Juvenile Justice Detention Center.
The two are expected to be charged with burglary in the first degree and possession of a stolen firearm.
