GOLDENDALE - A small handful of Bickleton tracksters traveled to Goldendale last Friday for the Lions Club Invite.
Pole vaulters Star Kibby and Patrick Maeder led the Pirates.
"The two...had sterling days as they could not vault the day before in Mabton," said Coach Darrell Lang.
"Star led things off by PRing as I predicted based on (the previous) Tuesday's effort," Lang said.
Kibby vaulted 8-6, tying the girls pole vault school record and placing just behind the defending state champ, who is from Bickleton's district.
"If she does not beat her at Districts, she must clear 8-9 on that day to earn the extra berth," Lang said, adding that he feels Kibby's got a shot at it.
For the second time this season, Maeder cleared 12 feet in the pole vault for a second place finish, and just a mere six inches away from Bickleton's school record.
Lang said the standard in boys pole vault is 11-6. "On most good days, Patrick clears that fairly easily."
Eric Hess placed third in the discus for Bickleton, throwing 138-3. He finished seventh in the shotput with a 40-5.5 throw.
Lady Pirate Katelynn Clinton finished fourth in the high jump at 4-4.
