James "Boyd" Shannon, 68, of Grandview passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at his home.
He was born Jan. 22, 1940 in Delphos, Kan. to James Brown and Geraldine (Hartley) Shannon. He received his education in Sunnyside, graduating with the Sunnyside High School class of 1958.
On Feb. 12, 1966, he married Raynette "Cookie" Klashke in Sunnyside and they made their home in Grandview.
He was employed at Hanford for many years and also served in the Army Reserve.
He enjoyed crossword puzzles, Sudoku puzzles and surfing the web. He cherished time spent with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Raynette "Cookie" Shannon of Grandview; one son, Ryan Shannon (Darla); two granddaughters, Kamryn and Kacie Shannon; one sister, Esther Lauritzen of Seattle; one brother, Darrell Shannon of Minneapolis, Kan.; one niece; and numerous nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Elwood Lauritzan; his mother-in-law, Irene Klashke Gowdy; and his fathers-in-law, Frank L. Klashke and Slim Gowdy.
Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
