Dorothy Lucille "Benji" Crawford Shepherd Benjamin, 89, of Woodburn, Ore. died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at her son's home.

She was born June 3, 1919 in Youngstown, Ohio to Charles Wilson Crawford and Melvina Lucille Morris.

She married Ralph Cornelius Shepherd in 1938. They had one son, John. Ralph died in 1946.

In 1948, she married Robert T. Benjamin, who had three children of his own, Larry, Roberta and Marjorie. Together they raised their children on a family farm in Sunnyside. She was a cook for the school district.

She is survived by two sons, John Shepherd of Woodburn and Larry Benjamin of Yakima; two daughters, Roberta Miller and Marjorie VanCleve, both of Eugene, Ore.; 18 grandchilden; 46 great-grandchildren; 34 great great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Goist of Hubbard, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Shepherd; and her husband, Robert Benjamin.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Woodburn. Interment will be held Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.

Donations can be made to your local hospice organization.

Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn is in charge of arrangements.
