Bickleton secures two wins

The Bickleton Pirates boys varsity basketball squad scored wins against the Riverside Christian JV and the Thorp Tigers varsity this past weekend.

The Pirates won 29-17 over the Crusaders last Friday, with Andrew Venema of Bickleton scoring 10 of the team's points.

He also had 10 rebounds on the night and stole the ball three times.

Pirate Edgar Molina was the top rebounder, with 17 snatched balls to his credit. He blocked the ball from the basket five times and grabbed it from the Crusaders seven times.

Bickleton's Patrick Maeder scored six points and rebounded seven times, while Junior Hernandez garnered four points and Nic Venema scored one point against Riverside's JV squad.

Saturday, Bickleton traveled to Thorp and earned a 49-6 victory.

Molina plundered the basket for 22 points, snatched up 20 rebounds, stole the ball three times and provided two assists.

Maeder scored eight points for the Pirates, grabbed eight rebounds, stole the ball five times and provided six assists.

Venema rebounded seven times, posted six points, assisted twice and took the ball away from the Tigers one time.

Hernandez scored five points against the Tigers.

Virgil Sampson rebounded five times for the Pirates and teammate Craig Osborne scored four points. Osborne also stole the ball three times, rebounded once and provided assistance to his teammates once.

Bickleton will be on the hardwood again tomorrow (Tuesday) against Liberty Christian's JV squad.
