MABTON - The Mabton Lady Vikings didn't disappoint in their first night on the home court this season, defeating Riverview 67-50.
Mabton seniors Trishi Williams and Ana Jiminez were on fire, with Williams scoring 27 points and Jiminez adding 19.
"My seniors had a great night," said Mabton Coach Chris McCallum. "In all the games I've seen Ana play, that was pretty much the best I've ever seen." Jiminez finished the night grabbing five rebounds and dishing up three assists. "She worked hard and she was having fun."
Mabton's Crysta Reynolds scored six points, had six rebounds and four assists. Teammate Brizi Enriquez chipped in four points and six assists. "She's our point guard and we needed that out of her," McCallum said.
Monika Tellez had 10 grabs and scored five points. "She'll box it out with the best of them," McCallum said. Terry Flores and Mia Rochoa scored five and two points, respectively.
The Lady Vikings were up by 11 points at 38-27 going into the second half, but then Riverview switched things up.
"They changed it up in the third quarter and it took my girls a while to adjust," said McCallum of the third quarter scoring: Mabton notching 11 points to Riverside's 12.
The Lady Vikings adjusted by the third quarter and turned the tables, scoring 18 points to Riverside's nine in the final period.
The Lady Vikings (3-1) next square off against Ki-Be this coming Tuesday.
