Janice M. Bretthauer, 72, the love of our lives, went to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father, Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008.

She was born on Sept. 8, 1936 in Freedom, Neb. to Morris and Georgia (Bush) Quaintance. She received her education in Sunnyside.

On June 27, 1954, she married her grade school sweetheart, James L. Bretthauer, at the Church of God in Sunnyside. She attended the First Christian Church of Sunnyside, where she loved to teach vacation Bible School. She never met a stranger, as everyone who met her loved her. She enjoyed cooking for her grandchildren, great- grandchildren and loved to shop for all their heart's desires. She also enjoyed cutting flowers from her garden and sharing beautiful arrangements with many friends and acquaintances. She loved a good movie and a joke or two.

She is survived by her loving husband, James Bretthauer of Grandview; one daughter, Caloha Jenkins (Ed) of Grandview; one son, Troy Bretthauer (Janice) of Prosser; three grandchildren, Stacy Izaguirre (Daniel), Summer Raver (Jason) and Jolene Bretthauer; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Duane Quaintance of Kennewick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one grandson, Eric James Jenkins.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Burial will be in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Those wishing to honor Janice's memory may contribute to the First Christian Church. Janice will be missed by the many who knew her and loved her.
