Maria Eulogia Fernandez, 94, of Sunnyside passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 9, 1914 in Mexico to Jose and Elfiga (Alvarez) Fernandez. In 1930 she married Pedro Zaragoza in Mexico. Her husband died in 1961. In 1980 she moved to the United States.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, listening to religious music and watching Animal Planet.

She is survived by Eliodara Zaragoza (Doroteo) and Carlota Zaragoza (Carlos), all of Mexico, Maria Zaragoza and Leopoldo Zaragoza (Concepcion), all of Yakima, Carmen Mendez and Carlos Zaragoza (Odelmira), all of Sunnyside, Adan Zaragoza (Rosa) of Mexico, Amalia Mangual and Maria Angela Zesati (Jose Luis) of Sunnyside; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pedro Zaragoza; two sons; five daughters; five grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother.

Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, from 3 until 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
