San Juana R. Bernal, 79, of Mabton has gone to our Lord, Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved gardening and canning her vegetables and fruits. She loved to joke around with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Manuel B. Bernal of Mabton; their 10 children, daughters, Raquel B. Hogue (Walter) of Pasco, Petra Palladares (Antonio) of Bakersfield, Calif., Delia Garza of Pasco, Norma B. Cortez (Alberto) and Nora B. Escobar (Rudy), all of Yakima, Sofia B. Morales of San Diego, Calif. and Delia B. Garza of Pasco; sons, Manuel Bernal Jr. of Othello, Ricardo Bernal (Maggie) of Sunnyside, Carlos Bernal of Texas and Matt Bernal (Jenny) of Mabton; a sister, Esperanza Martinez of Othello; 28 grandchildren; and 61 great-grandchildren.
A Rosary and funeral service were held today, Dec. 23, 2008, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger.

PORFIRIA S. ALMANZA
Porfiria S. Almanza, 90, of Kennewick passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008.
She was born Feb. 26, 1918 in Edinburg, Texas to Octaviano and Maria Melesia (Martinez) Santoy. She received her education in Texas. She married Rito Almanza in Edinburg.
In 1969, she moved to Kennewick where she worked for 14 years and retired from Rogers Walla Walla in Pasco.
She is survived by one daughter, Oralia Torres of Kennewick; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Isaias (Charlie) Almanza in 2008; three sisters; and two brothers.
Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, from 3 to 7 p.m., with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will be in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
