Venue selected for awards banquet

Planning has kicked into high gear for the annual Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce banquet and auction, slated to take place this year on Saturday, March 15, at 5 p.m.

George Johnson has donated the use of the Johnson Concentrates building as the site for the event.

Tickets will go on sale as early as Feb. 11, according to Chamber of Commerce Director Pam Turner.

Donated auction items thus far include two round-trip Southwest Airlines tickets for domestic travel, numerous gift baskets and Microsoft software.

And, of course, the event will also feature the dessert auction in which local chefs whip up their favorite tasty treats to support the chamber.

Nomination forms for the community awards that will take place in addition to the banquet are currently available.
