Deb Rene McDonald, 55, of Sunnyside passed away at her parent's home with her loving family by her side on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008.
She was born July 9, 1952 in Prosser to Cliff and Pat McDonald. She graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1970. She married Mike Prescott that summer.
Deb managed the Skippers restaurant in Sunnyside for several years. During the last two years, she worked for the Sunnyside School District as a playground supervisor and classroom volunteer at Outlook Elementary School. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there with the students. She was working as a custodian at the high school when she was diagnosed with cancer.
The highlights of Deb's life were her grandchildren. Gramma Debbie spent hours watching their basketball, soccer and baseball games.
Deb is survived by her two daughters, Gretchen Palomarez (David) and Megan Prescott, both of Sunnyside; her parents, Cliff and Pat McDonald; one sister, Sharon McDonald of Yakima; six grandchildren, Anthony, DJ, Samantha, Nicholas, Tayler and Nathaniel, all of Sunnyside; and her devoted cousin, Jean (Nene) Beard of Outlook, who was Deb's loving caretaker during her last few days.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul and Reta Vanbelle and Gerald and Doad McDonald; and a special aunt, Stella (Dinger) Bernier.
Memorials in Deb's honor are gratefully accepted by Lower Valley Hospice or Sunnyside Presbyterian Church.
Deb's family would like to thank the third floor nursing staff at Regional Hospital in Yakima and Lower Valley Hospice for their caring and kindness during her illness.
