Jerome Michael Bender, 39, of Prosser entered into rest Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Prosser Memorial Hospital after a long battle with polymyositis and pneumonia.
He was born June 23, 1968 in Sunnyside to Harold and Carol (Jerome) Bender.
Jerome was a mechanic and enjoyed collecting junk vehicles. He liked Snoopy and learned how to embroider any image. He also enjoyed crocheting things for his kids. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Jerome is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lorene of Prosser; his former wife, Michelle L. Bender of Prosser; his children, Jerod Bancroft, Tiffany, Crystal, Ashley, Michael and Joshua Bender; his granddaughters, Jazmine and Gabriella, all of Prosser; his parents, Harold and Carol Bender of Grandview; his grandmother, Marjorie Bleyhl of Sunnyside; his sisters, April Garcia (Rick) of Sunnyside and Michelle Gaston (Dennis) of Goldendale; his mother-in-law, Kay Greene; sisters-in-law, Katherine Greene and Dawn Hurt (Chris) all of Grandview; his nieces and nephews, Jon Griffin, Cody, Dusty and Danielle Garcia, Violet and Tyler Greene and Steven and Rebecca Hurt; and his former mother-in-law, Margaret Thompson; sister-in-law, Carrie; and brothers-in-law, David, Troy and Tommy Thompson all of Elks Creek, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Curly Jerome, Phyllis Jerome, and Fred Bender.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grandview. A reception and luncheon will follow at the Grandview VFW.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Polymyositis Foundation or to the family.
