Mobile home sustains damage

GRANDVIEW - Approxi-mately $4,000 worth of damage to an exterior wall and sub-flooring occurred yesterday (Sunday) when a fire ignited at a mobile home on Pleasant Avenue in Grandview.

Grandview firefighters needed less than an hour to bring the blaze under control, which was reported at 1:34 p.m.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and will be investigated by the Yakima County fire marshal's office.

According to Grandview Battalion Chief Ken Shipman, firefighters arrived at the home at 1230 Pleasant Ave. to find fire shooting from underneath the 12'x60' residential structure. Flames were also present on one of the mobile home's exterior walls. Besides the damage to the wall and the sub-flooring, there was also some smoke damage to the interior of the home.

The home, owned by Jane Graf but not a resident of the house, was being occupied by one adult male and one adult female. Shipman said the two will be staying with relatives. Neither of the two occupants were at home when the fire broke out.

The fire was reported by a neighbor who observed smoke rolling from the home.

Shipman said there were no injuries to any of the 11 firemen who responded to yesterday's alarm.
