Grandview teen dies in New Year's Day shooting

GRANDVIEW - Grandview police are currently investigating the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy that took place in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008.

Police received several reports of callers hearing arguing, then gunshots, in the area of the 1000 block of Cherry Lane and Princeville.

When officers arrived, they made contact with several people in the area. Police said they found the victim, Isaac D. Hinojosa, inside a home on Cherry Lane with a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel arrived and pronounced Hinojosa dead at the scene.

Police said two men were transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital for injuries sustained from gunshot and possible knife wounds related to the incident.

One of the men was released from the hospital yesterday, Tuesday, and held at the Grandview Police Department for questioning about the incident. He has since been released by police and the other victim is still in the hospital.

Grandview Detective Seth Bailey said the incident is being investigated as a homicide and also appears to be gang related.
