Herman Edwin Kuhlman, 91, a long-time Prosser resident, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008.

He was born in Prosser May 2, 1916. He graduated from Prosser High School with the class of 1934. He traveled extensively and while working in the oil fields of Texas he married his life's true love, Kathryn Persons, on July 6, 1940.

He owned and operated clothing stores in Prosser and Sunnyside.

While at Prosser High school, Ed was senior class president; a strong supporter of the FFA and on the state judging team; a member of the letterman's club, Hi-Y, football and basketball teams.

His nickname was "Grumpy", although always serious, very seldom seen as 'grumpy'.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Kathryn; a brother, Bill of Spokane; and a nephew, Bruce Kuhlman, whom he raised after the passing of his brother, Wendell in 1956.

Ed was preceded in his death by his parents, Mabel and Herman; two brothers, Wendell and Victor; and one daughter, Laura Louise.

Inurnment will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at East Prosser Cemetery. A fellowship time will follow at the Prosser Church of the Nazarene across from Housel Middle School from noon to 2 p.m. All are welcome to come and express condolences.

Prosser Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
