Patti Lou Leifeste, 75, of Sunnyside passed away on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2008, at her home.

Patti was born Sept. 13, 1932 in South Bend to S.L. (Buck) Hilby and Olga E. (Giudici) Hilby. She attended Washington State College (Go Cougs!).

She married Douglas H. Leifeste on June 19, 1954. She spent her married life in Sunnyside. She taught for many years at Outlook Elementary School, where her many students will remember her for her high expectations for their academic progress.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Doug Leifeste; her children, Sandra Owen of Kennewick, and her children, Leslie and Kiah; Gary Leifeste of Enumclaw and his children, Jaclyn and Doug; Cindy Golob (Chris) of Olympia and their children, Kelly, Whitney and Corey; Judy Querin (Randy) of Vancouver and their children, Callie and Joe; her sister, Joan Cox; and nephew, Ron Cox of Seattle.

Patti also had many special friends to whom her family is indebted and gratefully thank.

At Patti's request there will be no services. An informal gathering to remember Patti will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Lower Valley Hospice, 3920 Outlook Road, Sunnyside, WA 98944.

Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
