Estanislado "Stan" T. Hernandez, 84, of Sunnyside passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Hillcrest Manor.

He was born May 7, 1923 in Edcouch, Texas to Encarnacion and Refugia (Yado) Hernandez. Stan served in the U.S. Army in 1943.

On April 15, 1944, he married Cruz Valdez in Sunnyside, where they together made their home.

Stan worked in construction on various dams on the Columbia River and later worked at Hanford.

He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, and dancing with his wife every Saturday night.

Stan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Cruz Hernandez of Sunnyside; his children; Alice Aguirre (Pete) and Martha Rocha (Roberto), all of Sunnyside, Ray Hernandez (Marsha) of Albany, Ore., Minerva Malice of Selma, Calif., Lucas Hernandez (Becki) of Darrington, Hector Hernandez (Holly) of Lynnwood, Abel Hernandez of Kirkland and Rick Hernandez (Veronica) of Everett; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.; his two brother, Aaron Hernandez and Efrain Hernandez, both of Sunnyside; and three sisters, Trinidad Yanez of Zillah, Angelita Perales of Outlook and Maggie Muniz of Metolius, Ore.

Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
