Ike (Eize) deGraaf, 74, of Sunnyside passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Sunnyside Community Hospital.
He was born May 22, 1933 in Hallum, Friesland, Netherlands to Dirk and Hendrijke (van Huizen) deGraaf.
In 1970, Ike and Shirley Moritzky were married in Sunnyside. They were only married for a brief time.
Ike spent his time working as a painter, farm laborer, and a handy man.
Ike enjoyed taking care of animals.
The last few years, Ike received excellent care from Kathi Paul, Mary Langston, Opal, Joe and Shannon Tayon.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Allen and Dr. Couturier for their special kindness and expertise.
He is survived by brothers, Pete (Tetje) of Lethbridge, Alberta, Edward (Donna) of Sunnyside, Henry (Rosalyn) of Grandview, Fred (Donna) of Outlook and Dick (Katherine) of Kennewick; his sisters, Dieuwke (Jappie) of Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands, Tjitske (Geert) of Oosterwolde, Friesland, Netherlands; Betty (Ted) of Edmonton, Alberta, Annie (Ties) of Heereveen, Drente, Netherlands; a sister-in-law, Marilyn deGraaf of Grandview; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janke; and a brother, Bert.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
