Sunnyside Christian girls improve to 6-1 in league

BICKLETON - Sunnyside Christian's Lady Knights trekked to Bickleton last night (Tuesday), defeating the Pirates 54-14.

"This is a game where everybody played," said Al Smeenk, coach for the Lady Knights.

Bickleton Coach Tom Whitmore said the Lady Pirates were missing starter Star Kibby. "(That) hurts our pressing game and ball movement," he said.

The Pirates were down by 26 points going into the half and didn't recover. They went on to score only six more points in the second half of the game.

Katelynn Clinton was the top scorer for Bickleton with seven points. Teammates Johanna Jensen, Tricia McBride and Jeannette Jarvis each scored two points. Phylicia Pearson scored one for the Pirates.

Two Lady Knights scored in double digits. Melanie Van Wingerden scored 13 points and Andrea Schutt chipped in 10. Van Wingerden also notched 10 boards.

The Lady Knights (6-1, 11-2) next play Trout Lake at home this coming Thursday. Bickleton (3-4, 9-5) travels to Klickitat on Friday.
