Roy Hutchinson, 79, of Sunnyside passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 1, 1928 in St. Joe, Mo. to Elmer Leroy and Minnie (Essary) Hutchinson.

On April 11, 1949, he married Waneta Cleghorn in Pasco.

Roy worked as the head mechanic for Welch's Foods for 31 years. He was a life-long member of the Teamsters Union Local 760.

In his early years, he enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing on the Klickitat River. He later spent many hours on crafts and upholstery work. Roy also enjoyed playing music throughout the Valley and the Sunnyside Eagles with the Four Tones.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Waneta "Neta" Hutchinson of Sunnyside; his children, Roy Jr. (Maria) and Kathi (Forrest), all of Grandview, Robert (Kathy) and Anne (Frank), all of Olympia, and Bradley (Margaret) of Byron, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Richard Hutchinson of Zillah, Jerry Hutchinson of Grandview, Patrick Hutchinson of Basin City and Mike Hutchinson of Sunnyside; two sisters, Doris VanHorn of Grandview and Minnie Bell Ward of Reno, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jack Hutchinson.

Viewing and visitation were held Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, from 2 to 6 p.m. and today, Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Graveside services were held today, Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
