Pearl Cecilia Farnworth, 67, passed away peacefully with family at her side Friday, July 4, 2008, at her home in Sunnyside.
She was born Feb. 16, 1941 to Callie and Mae Hicks in Dayton. She attended Grandview High School.
On February 3, 1964, she married LaVerne C. Farnworth in Lewiston, Idaho. She was a longtime Lower Yakima Valley resident, primarily residing in Sunnyside, but also for a time lived in Grandview and Prosser.
She was primarily a homemaker. She was a simple woman. She loved to watch movies, gamble, go to the casino, camp, fish and travel with her husband.
She is survived by her sons, Lee Farnworth of LaCenter and James (Jan) Farnworth of Grandview; stepchildren, LaVerne C. Farnworth Jr., Susan (Tony) Bertsch and Diane Marquez, all of Sunnyside; sisters, Violet (Clyde) Whitney of Warden, Nellie Voss of Warden, Bertha Mickey Hancock of Prosser and Jenny (Bill) Underwood of West Richland; a brother, Lawrence (Betty) Hicks of Sunnyside; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne C. Farnworth; parents, Callie and Mae Hicks; sisters, Jean Browning and Ellen Withers; and two daughters, Betty Jean Farnworth and Linda Lee Knowles.
Viewing will be today, Tuesday, July 8, 2008, from 3 to 8 p.m. at her home, 1503 Ida Belle Lane, Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Church of God, 344 N. 11th St., Sunnyside, with burial to immediately follow at Sunnyside Memorial Park. A potluck reception will be held at the Church of God in Sunnyside.
Donations can be made to Lower Valley Hospice in Sunnyside. The family would like to give a special thank you to Lower Valley Hospice, Dr. Allen, Nurse Becky, Diane Marquez, Mickey Hancock, Holly Austin and Damien Marquez for the care and attention during Pearl's illness.
