Neptunes sustain home pool loss to Selah Dolphins

GRANDVIEW - The Neptunes were defeated 507-290 by the Selah Dophins last night in Grandview's home pool.

The Neptunes had a number of outstanding competitors in the water, though.

For girls 8&U, Madison Diener of Grandview earned top honors in two of her events. She clocked 50.91 in the 40-yard butterfly and 38.96 in the 40-yard freestyle. She also earned points for the team, earning third place honors in two other events.

Teammate Jordan Colson was the first place finisher in the 40-yard breaststroke, clocking a time of 46.38.

Colson's sister, Kylie, earned two runner-up honors for the Neptunes, Jacquline Jimenez earned runner-up honors in an event and Shellbbei Martinez and Kendell Roberson each earned fourth place honors for the Neptunes.

In the boys 8&U competition, Angel Morales of Grandview earned runner-up honors in three events.

Girls 10&U Neptunes Kassandra Martinez and Cali Castilleja each earned top honors for the Neptunes. Martinez was second to Selah's Melanie Garza with a time of 36.96 in the 40-yard butterfly. Her time of 41.38 in the 40-yard backstroke was nearly four seconds shy of her Dolphins competitor, Melanie Garza.

Martinez also earned two third place finishes against Selah.

Castilleja clocked a time of 32.30 in the 40-yard freestyle behind Garza's 31.78.

Grandview's Aliyah Graham earned two fourth place finishes and Areesa Trevino also earned fourth place honors in an event.

Grandview's Micah Binfet earned top honors in one of his boys 10&U events. He also earned runner-up honors in an event and a third place finish in another two events.

Teammate Luis Jose Valdez earned fourth place honors for the Neptunes.

Grandview girls 12&U competitor Tiana Perez earned two top finishes. She was the top finisher in the 40-yard backstroke and the 40-yard freestyle. Perez also garnered a runner-up position, third place honors and fourth place honors in her three other events.

Earning runner-up honors against the Dolphins for the Grandview girls 12&U division were Zulema Valencia, Taylor Hall, Madison Trevino and Breanna Lopez. Valencia also earned a fourth place finish in an event.

Boys 12&U competitor Jose Castilleja of the Neptunes earned top honors in four of his five events. He also earned runner-up honors in the 40-yard backstroke with a time of 37.87, which was nearly seven seconds behind Selah's Bailey Perez.

Teammates Anthonia Castillo and Brendon Lynch-McGhan earned runner-up honors for the Neptunes in the 160-yard individual medley and 40-yard breaststroke, respectively. Castillo also earned two fourth place finishes and Lynch-McGhan garnered fourth place honors in an event.

Adam Fleming and A.J. Trinidad, also Grandview boys 12&U competitors, earned a third and fourth place finish, respectively.

In the girls 14&U competitions, Grandview's Tiffany Owen earned runner-up honors in two events, and Jessica Morales earned fourth place honors in an event.

Grandview boys 14&U competitor Fabian Ruiz earned top honors in all five of his individual events, clocking times of 26.75 in the butterfly, 31.12 in the breaststroke, 30.50 in the backstroke, 21.18 in the freestyle and 2:26.50 in the individual medley.

Teammate Eric Escobar earned runner-up honors in an event and three third place finishes.

Also earning points for the Grandview 14&U boys were Antonio Abonza, who garnered third place honors in an event, and Milagro Castilleja, who earned third place honors in one event and fourth place honors in two events.

There weren't any points earned by the Neptunes 16&U girls competitors, however boys 16&U competitor Spencer Blanshan of Grandview earned top honors in an event, runner-up honors in another event and third and fourth place finishes in two other events against Selah.

In girls 18&U competition, Grandview's Cheyen Schenck and Danyel Stuber each earned runner-up honors and third place honors against Selah. Stuber garnered a fourth place finish in a third event.

Neptunes boys 18&U competitor Matt Concienne finished first in the 40-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 20.15. He also earned runner-up honors and third place honors in two other separate events.
