Bobby Joe "Bob" Fletcher, 80, of Sunnyside died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at his home.

He was born Aug. 23, 1927 in Stilwell, Okla. to Ellis and Ella (Rather) Fletcher. He served in the U.S. Army and Reserves for 35 years.

On July 4, 1956, he married Helen Kaiser in Grandview.

He worked for the Grandview Safeway plant for 11 years. He retired from the Sunnyside Post Office after 20 years of being a mail carrier and working the front window. He also was a foreman of an asparagus crew for 100 Circle Farms on the Horse Heaven. For the past 20 years he was the main dealer trade driver for C Speck Motors Inc. in Sunnyside.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Fletcher of Sunnyside; one aunt, Jackie Martin of Palm Springs, Calif.; sister-in-law, Rose Fletcher of White Plains, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Katherine Olney; and one brother, Harold Fletcher.

At his request there will be no formal funeral service. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
