I don't get a chance to post as often as I'd like, but blogging has become a reality for me.
Blogging, keeping a web log on the internet, isn't something I ever really thought much of until I stumbled onto one that Outlook Elementary Principal Robert Bowman uses for the school community.
The site he uses, blogspot, offers free blogs for sharing comments and photos. That sounded fun to me and the result is Write On!, my blog at jmfwrites.blogspot.com.
It's been a fun way to journal thoughts and experiences. My particular blog focuses on the mix of being a journalist and associate pastor all at the same time.
You could say journalism is my vocation, and ministry my avocation. Write On! let's me contemplate both at the same time.
I'm pretty new at blogging and I haven't posted much over the past 10 months or so since my blog started. Something happened earlier this month, though, that made me real glad to have Write On!
You may or may not have heard about a musical group called Delirious?-their name ends with a question mark-but they are a popular Christian band probably best known for the song "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever."
The other day I was visiting their website and its blog when I read that band members are in the process of going into different areas of ministry and will disband at the end of 2009.
Delirious? is a fairly new band to me and it was at a surprise concert in Redmond last year that I really found out about them in a big way.
They touched my heart and I was disappointed to hear of their impending break-up.
That's when I sat down and started writing in my blog and it was really helpful to express some thoughts about how God has used that band and its music to bless me.
I'm not sure where this whole blogging thing is going to go for me or how often I'll post, but I'm enjoying it along the way, these blog days of summer.
