Cribbage players to compete next week

A series of American Cribbage Congress sanctioned tournaments will be staged in Sunnyside next week, from Wednesday, July 30, through Sunday, Aug. 3.

The Sunnyside VFW hall will be the site of Masters Mid-Week Challenge VI, to run July 30-31.

The annual mid-week competition will open on Wednesday at 9 a.m. for the main 22 games. At 7 p.m. that evening at the VFW hall, the remaining nine games of the tournament will be played. Thursday, July 31, the mid-week tournament playoffs will commence at 8 a.m. at the same site, with consolation bracket games to start at 10:30 a.m.

Those interested in entering the Masters Mid-Week Challenge VI event are urged to contact Bob Brumley (839-6323).

The seventh annual Summer Classic competitions will be held Aug. 1-3 at the Sunnyside Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge.

An early birds competition of seven games will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, to be followed by a 10-game, hi-rollers tournament at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m. Friday evening, a 10-game doubles tourney will get underway.

Saturday, Aug. 2, the Eagles lodge will host the main, 22-game event, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday evening at 7 p.m., a special nine-game competition will be held there.

The following day, Aug. 3, the main tourney playoffs will begin at 8 a.m., with the consolation round to get underway at 9:30 a.m.
