Leandro Ontiveros, 93, of Mabton passed away Monday, July 21, 2008, at Medical Lake.

He was born May 4, 1915 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Ferman and Isabele (Rodriguez) Ontiveros.

He was a farm worker when he met the love of his life, Ramona Amesquita. They were married in 1944 and moved to Juarez, Mexico to start their family. Later, they relocated to El Paso, Texas. He was a hard worker and always provided for his wife and six children.

He loved to work in his garden and enjoyed yard work.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona of Mabton; four sons, Nick of New Mexico, Juan Jose of Denver, Colo., Tomas of Yakima and Lorenzo of Mabton; three daughters, Marie Rangel and Isabel Martinez, both of Mabton, and Estella Avalos of Toppenish; three brothers, Alfredo, Fransisco and Ezequio; three sisters, Juliana, Manuela and Socorro; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.

Viewing will be held Sunday, July 27, 2008, from noon to 7 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 28, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside with burial to follow at Mabton City Cemetery.
