Lester Darrol Kendall, 80, longtime Sunnyside resident passed away Friday, July 25, 2008, at his home.

He was born March 17, 1928 in Lincoln, Neb. to Lester and Lucille (Gee) Kendall. He graduated with the Sunnyside High School class of 1947.

In 1948 he married Meryl Asselstine and they made their home in Sunnyside. Meryl passed away in 1991. In February of 1992, he married Donna Bierlink Newhouse in Sunnyside.

He farmed his entire life in the valley. He enjoyed traveling, square dancing, hunting and fishing. He served as a 4-H leader and on various agriculture boards.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Kendall of Sunnyside; two sons, Rick Kendall (JoAnn) of Snohomish and Jeff Kendall of Elk Grove, Calif.; two daughters, Lisa Kendall of Seattle and Andrea Cook of Buckley; step-children, Jill Den Hoed (Bill) of Grandview, Jackie Davidson (Stu) Snohomish and Gilbert Newhouse (Sylvia) of Sunnyside; grandchildren, Adrianne Robbins (Willie), Leslie Cook, Will Kendall, Bo Kendall, Carra Waddle, Alyson Waddle, Lisa Den Hoed, Albert Den Hoed, Andrew Davidson, Danielle Newhouse and Alexandra Newhouse; mother-in-law, Alice Bierlink of Sunnyside; one sister, Yvonne James of San Jose, Calif.; and sister-in-law, MaryLou Kendall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lucille Kendall; brother, Wyvil Kendall; nephew, Brian Kendall; and wife, Meryl Kendall.

A memorial funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside.
