Pedro G. Rojas, 82, died Monday, June 9, 2008.

He was born July 25, 1925 in San Pedro, Mexico to Jose M. and Maria (Gomez) Rojas. He served in the U.S. Navy during Pearl Harbor and was honorably discharged as Seaman First Class.

On Oct. 9, 1948, he married Juanita Hernandez in Toppenish.

He is survived by 15 children: Pedro (Viola) Rojas Jr. of Kennewick, Irma (Uriel) Mendoza and Juan Jose Rojas both of Granger, Celina (Ricardo) Garza and Maria (Jeff) Sears both of Yakima, Salvador Rojas of Bakersfield, Calif., Delia (Jose G.) Orozco of Zillah, Norma (Jose G.) Hernandez of Pasco, Abel (Eva) Rojas of Spokane, Daniel (Coletta) Rojas and Arnold Rojas both of Kennewick, Maria Isabel (Mario) Sanchez of Mission, Texas, Linda (Ruben) Peña of Auburn, Rebecca (Angel) Balderas of Wapato and Cruz (Brock) Rojas of Seattle; 43 grandchildren; 41 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Carmen Rojas of Yakima and Clara (Raymond) DeLuna of Granger; and two brothers, Jose Rojas of Toppenish and Lino (Adelina) Rojas of Walla Walla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Alejandra Escatel; one brother, Oscar Rojas and three grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, June 12, 2008, from 2 until 4 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. A recitation of Holy Rosary will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008, at 6 p.m. at Zillah Resurrection Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 13, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Zillah Resurrection Catholic Church with burial to follow at Zillah Cemetery with military honors by Veteran of Foreign Wars.
