Community transformation conference on tap July 25-26 in Sunnyside

Community members in Sunnyside and surrounding areas are invited to attend a two-day conference at Sunnyside High School Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26.

The conference, featuring world renowned speaker Ed Silvoso and Dave Thompson of Harvest Evangelism, is being hosted by the group Transformation Sunnyside.

Friday evening's event will be presented in Spanish and translated in English. Saturday, the presentations will be in English and translated to Spanish.

According to Transformation Sunnyside's Jerry Haak, Silvoso's life work is to help communities transform themselves.

Haak said Silvoso utilizes a recipe, combining business, education and government working toward the transformation of a community.

"Through the power of prayer and relationships, using given gifts and working together, a community can be changed," said Haak.

He said Silvoso will teach community members to use their work hours in serving the community, affecting change.

Haak added that Silvoso will ask those in attendance at the conference to live their faith and values as servants to the community.

Throughout the conference, a number of seminars will be provided with an in-depth process of working toward the common goal of change.

The conference will be provided for a fee of $25 per participant, which includes lunch and snacks on Saturday.

According to Transformation Sunnyside's Karen Friend, cash donations and volunteers for the lunch would be appreciated. She can be reached at 837-4471.

The event begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude at 8:30 p.m. Saturday's schedule begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 4 p.m.
