This coming Aug. 4 the Sunnyside Police Department will host the National Night Out kick-off party at Central Park in Sunnyside, from 5 to 8 p.m.
The Lower Valley kick-off will be open to the public and activities, food and entertainment will be provided free of charge. All Lower Valley law enforcement agencies are also invited to participate in planning and coordinating the event.
Currently, the Sunnyside Police Department is actively seeking service organizations and companies wanting to participate in the National Night Out kick-off party.
The department's goal is to provide a family friendly atmosphere and allow people to leave informed about the businesses and services available to them in the Yakima Valley.
If a business or service providing organization would like to participate in the Aug. 4 event they are asked to call Charlotte Hinderlider at 836-6222 or email her at email@example.com.
Tables and chairs are available for businesses and organizations on a limited basis.
Also, the Sunnyside Police Department is looking for interested individuals who would like to host a National Night Out block party on Tuesday, Aug. 5. For those interested an informational meeting will be held at the Sunnyside Law and Justice Center this Wednesday, June 18, at 6 p.m.
The Sunnyside Police Department hopes to assist more than 20 neighborhoods in throwing their own block parties on Aug. 5 and continuing the department's long standing relationship and participation in the National Night Out Against Crime event.
Their mission is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
