Juanita Duque, 84, of Granger died Monday, June 16, 2008, at Grandview Health Care.

She was born March 29, 1924 in Edinburg, Texas to Jose and Maria Refugio (Vega) Perez. She received her education in Texas before moving to Washington.

On Aug. 11, 1956, she married Teodoso Duque in Granger. The Duques lived and raised their family in the Granger area.

She is survived by her husband, Teodoso Duque of Granger; a daughter, Margaret Duque Aguilar of Grandview; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sylvia Duque; five siblings, Isabel Santoy, Cande Perez, Alejandra Alvarez, Luciano Perez and Julia Castillo; and a nephew.

Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2008, from 1 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger with burial to follow at Zillah Cemetery.
